Some Beach, Somewhere

by Ashley on August 24, 2011

As I was planning my next vacation, I got caught up reminiscing about my last so I thought I would share some of my favorite photos from San Diego, Ocean Beach and Carlsbad California. Sigh.

Now for my next trip – I’m visiting Becca in San Francisco for a long weekend in October! Then I’ll be roadtripping down California to end up in San Diego. I know I want to go camping inYosemite, and stop in Big Sur, but I haven’t figured out what else is on my “Must See in Cali” list. So tell me, my dears – what’s not to be missed? All advice is welcome and wanted!

Bringing Lacy Back

by Ashley on August 21, 2011

Excuse our absence! This summer has just been a crazy one for both me and Becca. But we’re trying to get back to our regularly scheduled programming around here. So for your viewing pleasure, an outfit post:

Dress: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Zara // Bag: Mango // Sunglasses: Proenza Schouler

There’s been a whole lotta blog posts for the last month about how to stay cool when it’s hot out. My solution is simple: wear less clothing. And if you can, find clothes that vent themselves like this lace backed dress. Not only does the lace provide a pretty and interesting detail to this dress, but the cooling effect it provided was an unexpected fringe benefit.

Fun fact! This is the 3rd time I’ve featured this dress on Free Honey, but it’s the first time I’ve ever showed the back (which I actually think is what makes this dress special).  See how else I’ve worn it here and here!

Tank: H&M  // Skirt: Forever 21 // Sandals: Ralph Lauren // Bag: Zara // Necklace: H&M

I got this skirt 2 years ago at Forever 21 and it remains one of my favorite skirts. Black and white is one of my favorite color combinations, and aside from that this skirt is the perfect length – long enough for work and short enough for everywhere else :) I also frequently get asked if it’s Theory, to which I get to reply, “actually, it’s from Forever 21.”  And then I get to see the impressed look that usually follows that statement. The only thing better then spending $16 on a skirt you love is when that skirt manages to convince everyone it cost 10 times more then it did.

Kissed by the Sun

by Ashley on July 18, 2011

Dress: Zara // Sandals: Havianas //  Bag: El Corte Ingles // Sunglasses: Forever 21

Do you ever feel like it’s just too hot for accessories other then a towel and a book? Yeah, that was this weekend. So I suited up, grabbed a cover-up and headed to the park. Full disclosure: when I bought this adorable little white coverup (during this Girls Weekend, I was pretty convinced that it was an actual dress. In fact, I wore it several times. But then this summer came around and I put this dress on to discover (GASP) that it was now, somehow, slightly sheer. If anyone knows HOW this incredibly mysterious thing could have happened, I beg you to share your knowledge.

Of course there is another possible explanation…perhaps I just bought a see-through dress. And didn’t realize it. For a year. Whoops.

Needle in a Haystack

by Becca on July 15, 2011

Sometimes all the other photos come out bad. The wind is blowing and you’re tired after a long day, but sometimes there’s that one photo. This was one of those times. A decent photo amongst it’s alarmingly awful companions! I got dressed, so I might as well share!
